Dr. Dwight Norwood, PhD, LICSW

About Me

I have been in practice since 2007. I am certified as a Master ART Practitioner by the International Society of Accelerated Resolution Therapy (IS-ART ); I am certified as an ART trainer. I have practiced ART for 11 years.  I am also a student at the Hartford Family Institute where I have studied body-based psychotherapy for 11 years.

I did my undergraduate work at the University of Notre Dame.  I later added a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from UConn, and another in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  Finally, I completed my Ph.D. in social work from the University of Connecticut in 2015.

I am licensed to practice psychotherapy in Connecticut (LCSW) and in Vermont (LICSW).

I know the world of business; I ran my own successful computer consulting firm for 25 years, serving most of the large financial institutions in New York.  You can still find some of my publications on-line for that period, such as the Redbooks I participated in writing for IBM. I know about the pressures of project management; I earned a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.  In 2006 I took a new direction, choosing to work from my heart rather than my head. That's when I began studying at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work and finished my degree in just one year.  In 2009 I returned to enter the doctoral program, and completed my Ph.D. in Social Work in December 2014 (the award date is May 2015).
